Diese Brosche gehört zu den wohl spektakulärsten Schmuckstücken des deutschen Jugendstils. Der Entwurf für die Brosche mit dem ungewöhnlichen Titel "Octopus und Schmetterling" stammt von Wilhelm Lucas von Cranach. Ausgeführt wurde sie von dem Berliner kaiserlichen Hofjuwelier Louis Werner. Ein gekrönter Krake aus zwei Barockperlen attackiert einen mehrfarbig emaillierten Schmetterling.
